FAQs

What are the mini millers?

The Mini Millers is a developmental house-league baseball program for players in grades K-4 in the Minneapolis community.

Our Mini Millers program has two different levels of play:

  • Coach Pitch - for players currently in Kindergarten thru 2nd grades
  • Kid Pitch - for players currently in 2nd thru 4th grades.

To best support our 2nd grade players, they will flex across both leagues based on skill and preference.

When is Registration?

Registration for the 2025 season closed on March 21, 2025. We anticipate next season's registration to open late February or early March 2026.

When does the 2025 spring/summer season start?

Practices begin in mid-April with games starting in May. The season will run through mid-July.

How many games are there each week?

Teams will have two games each week.

  • Coach Pitch: games are on Monday & Wednesday
  • Kit Pitch: games are on Tuesday & Thursday
What time are the games?

All games are at 6:15 PM

How many practices will there be?

Expect one practice each week, which means your player will have 3 days each week committed to baseball.

Where are the games and practices?

Practice fields will vary and your coach will communicate the location, but as of now, all fields are located in South Minneapolis. Games will primarily be at  Armatage Park, Sibley Park, and Kenny Park, but are not limited to those sites.

How much does this cost?

Fees for Coach Pitch are $180 and fees for Kid Pitch are $215. Financial aid IS available and we never want cost to be a barrier to entry. For information, please reach out to our Treasurer, Heidi, at registrar@mplsmillers.org

What do the fees cover?

Season fees cover the cost of league games, a team jersey, and a team hat.

Can my child be on a team with friends?

Each player is allowed one friend request.

What if my child has never played any baseball before — is the millers right for them?

No matter the experience level, our Mini Millers coaches are prepared to meet your child where they're at and impart not only baseball skills but also hopefully a love of the game. The Mini Millers is a great start for building baseball fundamentals and discovering the fun of a team sport.

How do I know if my 9 year old should play mini millers or travel ball?

Only you and your player can answer that question, but Mini Millers is probably a good fit if:

  • your player has limited experience playing baseball
  • your family isn't quite ready for the rigorous schedule of travel baseball
  • your player would benefit from building skills and confidence before entering a more competitive level of play
