The goal of Round 2 is to allow the evaluators to see each player and rate them on their skills and baseball IQ. To do this, players are put through a combination of individual skill stations along with scrimmage situations.
 
The scrimmage situations allow the evaluators to see their skills as they present in game situations along with baseball IQ.
 
The format is as follows:

Infield 

  • Each player will receive 3-4 ground balls hit to them at SS which they will field and throw to 1st. The hits will be at them, to their left, and to their right. 
  • Players will be evaluated based on abilities, including: 
    • Footwork and hands 
    • Proper throwing technique/body control 
    • Quickness/Lateral movements 
    • Arm strength

Outfield 

  • Each player will receive 3-4 balls hit to them in right field which they will then throw to 3rd base hitting a cutoff man. The hits they receive will be a combination of fly balls and line drives/ground balls. 
  • Players will be evaluated based on abilities, including: 
    • Ability to judge balls hit to them 
    • Range to front, left, right and back 
    • Catching the ball 
    • Making throw to 3rd, hitting cutoff man

Running 

  • Players will be evaluated based on abilities, including: 
    • Ability to approach a base while preparing to advance to the next base in the same play.

Scrimmage situations

  • Players take the field and will be rotated through an infield position on both the left and right sides, as well as the outfield.
  • Players not in the field will be base runners. 
  • A coach will hit balls around the field to simulate game situations with live base runners. 
  • Players in the field will be evaluated on abilities, including:
    • Communication with other fielders about the current situation (e.g. - number of outs)
    • What to be looking for (e.g. - where to go for the next out) 
    • Ability to field the ball in game situations 
    • What they did with the ball if they fielded it. 
    • What they did to support a play (cover a base, backup a throw, etc) if the ball was not thrown at them 
  • Players running the bases will be evaluated on ability including:
    • Knowing when and how far to advance when a ball is hit
    • Hitting 
  • Each player will receive 7-10 pitches from a coach
  • Players will be evaluated based on ability including:
    • Overall swing mechanics 
    • Ability to make solid contact 
    • Power

Pitching 

  • Each player will throw 5-7 pitches 
  • Players will be evaluated based on ability including:
    • Mechanics 
    • Velocity 
    • Control

Catching (if your player catches) 

  • Each player will have 5-7 balls thrown to them from a coach, with a few in the dirt. 
  • Each player will make 2-3 throws to 2nd base attempting to throw out a runner 
  • Players will be evaluated based on ability including:
    • Catching and Receiving - player should be able to catch without struggling 
    • Arm Strength 
    • Blocking balls in the dirt
